The Amazon Eden Lodge is located on the Sonhos River system in the Brazilian rainforest and is an exceptionally rich ecosystem within a breathtaking landscape of scattered jungle and hills. The lodge is the first of its kind (sportfishing) operation allowed to operate inside a designated conservation unit. The government of the State of Para has given ownership permission to operate a “sustainable use” project in what many consider the most untouched and remote areas of the Amazon.
This is a clear-water river system, breaking into smaller channels with boulders and rapids and deep back eddies, where monster fish can be found. The river has never been commercially fished, and even subsistence fishing is not allowed. The fishing program targets Xingu Peacock bass, Payara, Wolf Fish, Matrinxã and many other species that thrive in the rich ecosystem.
Anglers who embark on Peacock Bass fishing expeditions often find themselves navigating through dense foliage and winding waterways. The journey to fishing grounds requires a blend of boating skills and respect for the environment. Along the way, anglers are treated to breathtaking views of the lush rainforest, diverse wildlife and the enchanting symphony of sounds that define this unique ecosystem.
